Back at home

Well the question that Eric and began asking each other daily around March of this year was “what are we going to do in the fall?”. After selling our house and planning to go on this amazing trip, we decided that we would figure out our plans for the future once we got closer to the date. We started asking each other that question, but neither of us really ever had an answer. We talked about buying a house up north in Thessalon area, we talked about buying a house in Kitchener again, and we even talked about somehow continuing our trip so that we could keep on exploring this beautiful world. We (mostly me), decided that the kids really needed to be in a real school again for the fall. The homeschooling was going much better since we started doing the online lessons, but I still really felt that they needed interaction with other human beings their age, and we all were ready to spread out a little.

We started looking at houses in Kitchener and for a crazy couple of weeks, we were going to open houses and with our realtor Brian Ellis on a houes hunt for something in our budget. Ultimately we decided that we didn’t want to rush into buying a house, and we felt crazy pressure to choose someting quickly so that I could get the kids registered in the proper school district. So we switched gears and started looking at something to rent for a little while, and we could continue house hunting without the pressure. Well, it was right down to the wire, but we ended up finding out that one of Eric’s co-workers had a house that he rents out and it was going to be available in November. So we said we would take it and the Friday before school started I went to the kids schools and registered them so that they could start on Tuesday. I was so relieved that they would be there for the first day, since it would be hard enough starting out at a new school.

So, we are currently living in our trailer while we wait for November to get here and the house to be ready. The trailer seems smaller all of a sudden! I think now that we are not moving around and exploring new things, we are ready to be in the house. We also got our cat Milo back (from our wonderful friends Heather and Mitch who took such good care of him while we were gone). So now we have a littler box (yuck), scratching post, food dishes and cat bed squeezed into our already small space! The kids are all liking their new schools and making new friends which I am very greatful for. So it seems that our adventure is over for now, but hopefully not forever. Our next adventure might be trying out our hand at farming for a while. We definitely want to keep on travelling though, and one way or another we will get out and see more of this amazing world we live in.
